CHOOSING THE RIGHT WICK SIZE

CHOOSING THE RIGHT WICK SIZE

When creating a candle the type + size of wick, the type of wax + the jar size are all important and can affect the overall performance of the candle.

Wicks that are too small will result in a flame that is either too small or worse, constantly goes out, or tunneling (where the wax around the wick melts and burns, but a large portion of the wax remains as a ring on the outer edge of the candle).

Wicks that are too large will result in a flame that is too large, a quicker burn + mushrooming of the wick. A candle that has a wick that is too large is a significant fire danger as the jar could become so hot that it explodes.

Candle makers spend hours finding the right size wick for the type of wax + jar that is used to create their candle. To find out how you can get the most out of The Zen Zone Co candles, visit the ‘Candle Care + Safety’ section of our website.
